If you’re all about unconventional wedding trends, here’s one that might pique – or rather, prick – your fancy.

'Finger Piercings'

21st century couples are an interesting lot: we’ve seen couples tie the knot in Target stores, using avocados to propose – the list of viral wedding trends are endless.

However, the latest engagement ring trend that’s catching fire on the Internet? Engagement finger piercings.

Called a dermal piercing, instead of proposing with a traditional engagement ring, couples are now celebrating this lifelong commitment by permanently embedding a diamond to their left ring finger. How it works: the left ring finger is pierced, before being affixed with a diamond.

Now, as bizarre as this trend is, it has its perks. Firstly, it’s the perfect solution for the brides- and grooms-to-be prone to leaving their engagement rings lying around.

Secondly, you’ll never have to get into a tense situation with your partner for ‘conveniently forgetting’ to wear their ring! With the ring permanently affixed on their finger, your partner will always be identifiably ‘taken’… as long as people can identify what the dermal rings stand for, anyway.

So, thought millennial couples are don’t fare well with commitment? Think again. And if these finger piercings aren’t your cup of tea, browse the gallery above for stunning non-traditional engagement rings that might do the trick.
