Streetstyle Blush: 11 Chic ways to flaunt the colour pink

Angela Goh https://www.mariefranceasia.com/hk/author/angela 25 Oct 2016 mis à jour le 3 May 2019 à 08:08

Commonly thought of as a "girly" colour, pink can actually be worn anytime, anywhere, and by anyone who chooses to.

Shades of pink

    Shades of pink
Ha Khanh Van looks blushingly brilliant in two different shades of pink - a pretty pastel shirt and a darker skirt that oozes femininity. The white shoes add even more of a daytime vibe to this ensemble.Photo: Getty Images

    The pink knitted sweater
Knitted sweaters can look chic in bright colours, and this superbly hot pink version makes us wish for cooler weather. Paired with a pleated mini skirt and thigh-high boots, German model and fashion blogger Alexandra Lapp knows just how to flaunt the unconventional colour.Photo: Getty Images

    Denim jeans go with pink
Fashion blogger Sofya Benzakour rocks this bright pink pull-over and some lovely pumps to match. Surprisingly, a pair of faded blue denim jeans match perfectly with the set.Photo: Getty Images

    The bold combo
Spotted during Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2017, this ensemble definitely catches the eye with its bold colour combination. The oversized trousers look is also one that makes a statement.Photo: Imaxtree

    Silk florals
While a silk ensemble such as this can look more like a bedtime getup than an out-and-about outfit, we can't help but be totally enchanted by the floral prints and interesting hemlines that make this richly hued wardrobe choice a winner in our eyes.

    Casual and loose-fitting
Any shade of pink goes well with neutral colours, including black. The dark and dusky pink of this loose-fitting pull-over is understated yet casually chic.Photo: Imaxtree

    The shimmery accessory
Everyone loves a head-turning accessory - there is nothing better than a shiny bag that screams "look at me". We're loving the glorious pink hue and gold embellishments of this little number.

    Odd yet charming
Bright pink may not always go with blue, but in this outfit, the subtle blue highlights in this ensemble don't overpower the statement pink t-shirt with its odd and charming little prints. Photo: Imaxtree

    Curious outerwear
This unconventional double-layered dress combo may seem a little confusing, but it looks chic and undeniably comfortable too. We're loving the matching platform sneakers here. A fun and cheeky city outfit.

    The pink leather jacket
If a black leather jacket is too severe, why not flaunt a pink version? Nothing beats a unique take on a much-loved fashion staple. The silver embellishments match up well with the bubblegum pink hue here - and we're loving the minimalist dress underneath.

    Pastel pink perfection
This ensemble is impressive all on its own, and it isn't hard to see why. The pastel pinks of the oversized jacket and inner blouse look flawless together, and the pink bag blends well with the overall look. Photo: Imaxtree

Pink can be a hard colour to wear sometimes, especially the older you get. It is generally more of a "young" and "youthful" colour that can bring out a very innocent and feminine vibe. Pastel pinks and bright shades of bubblegum and candy pinks can prove to be a challenge to mix and match with other wardrobe items.

Fortunately, it isn't impossible to style an appropriate ensemble with a few pink pieces. Whatever the shade, pink looks fantastic with black - try a pink shirt with black trousers for a simple and easy look, or perhaps a pink sweater and black skirt combo.

If wearing pink feels a little too OTT for you, start small. You don't have to go all-out and don a pair of outrageous fuschia trousers or wrap yourself in a bright pink sweater. Pink shoes or a pink handbag can brighten up any outfit significantly without seeming too in-your-face. Once you are confident enough to flaunt the colour, the possibilities are endless! For more inspiration, be sure to head up to the gallery above to check out 11 chic ways the street style mavens of our era have worn this cheeky colour this season.
