Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the Rainbow Loom Bracelets by now. They are the hottest success story of this summer .

These little multi-coloured chains are adored by children and adolescents worldwide – and have recently appeared on the wrists of celebrities and royalty alike.

From Kate Middleton to Julia Roberts and even Pope Francis, everyone seems to have fell for the Rainbow Loom Bracelets.

This phenomenon, which emerged in the United States, and has now invaded our toy stores and the humble elastic bracelets are currently number one in sales in many countries including France, the United States, Belgium, Japan, and even Australia.

The appeal of this phenomenon is its ability to be as simple and as complicated as you want it to, thus appealing to both children and adults. Once you are able to create a bracelet, you can experiment in hundreds of different styles and the possibilities are endless. Don’t believe us? Well a Welsh mother has recently manufactured  a dress  for her 12-year-old daughter using 20,000 multicoloured elastic bands!!! Yes, you read that right, 20,000! She spent about 45 hours, and spent approx. USD40 for the 40 packets of elastic bands needed.

Furthermore, Helen (the mother) decided to put the dress on Ebay and managed to raise around USD270,000 for it – which is simply amazing.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN RAINBOW LOOM BRACELET?

Just interlock the elastics using a loom or your own fingers to form a chain.

YOU NEED:

– A Loom
– Coloured elastic bands (sold in plastic bags)
– A small hook
– A clasp

Enjoy!
