Would you flee from your wedding? The American actress, Natalie Portman sure showed us how she did just that in her new short film for Miss Dior.

Weddings are a big deal for most women but what happens if a woman is just not ready to be shackled by a ring or the need to accommodate to another’s whims, day in and day out? Fearing how society would lambast an unmarried woman or someone past her ‘prime marrying age’, many settle and jump the gun anyway without really putting themselves first.

But that wasn’t the case for Natalie Portman, who starred in the latest Miss Dior short film as a runaway bride, holding freedom strongly by the reins. The film sees Portman, in Cote D’Azur, looking over a balcony at the beautifully set-up ceremony below but her face is flooded with nothing but a look of worry.

As she walks down the aisle with her father, ready to be given away, Portman decides to make a run for it, kicks off her shoes and strips from her Dior Couture gown into a strapless black dress before getting picked up by an encircling helicopter.

“The story is about escaping, about getting away from all the things that tie you down in life,” Anton Corbijn, director of the film told Vogue.

We love how Natalie Portman strongly embodies the virtues of a strong, independent woman because clearly, marriage need not be a means to an end. And neither should anything else that’s holding you back in life.
