Can you believe that the 1990s was 2 decades ago? Awaken your teenage spirit with these accessories inspired by the grungy era.

When compared to the puffed up hairdo and neon colours of the 80s, the 1990s were deemed to be more toned down. Regardless, the 90s was an interesting era, with fashion trends swinging back and forth between the vivacious hip-hop style of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and the grunge look of Nirvana.

It might sound just like a short while ago, but the 90s is 20 years behind us. And since fashion is ephemeral, the 90s fashion isn’t our thing anymore… or is it? Most of the accessories we wore then — think chokers and mood rings — don’t always have to make us cringe. We’ve selected some accessories that perfectly capture the zeitgeist of the 1990s adequately infused with modern-day influences that you would want to wear them again.

Eugenia Kim‘s headbands, for instance, make a unique hair piece, while Givenchy‘s grungy choker is a head-turning accessory. If you’re considering a more subtle way to relive your teenage spirit then don on a pair of dangling earrings bearing the Yin Yang or peace signs synonymous with the 90s we found on Net-A-Porter.

You must be feeling nostalgic by now but we’re just getting started. The rest of our picks will serve as a major throwback so be sure to check out the gallery!
