Marie France Asia: Are there any places considered auspicious or not so good to be around this year?

David Tong: In terms of House Feng Shui, energy changes yearly. Every year, there will be certain areas that are auspicious and areas that are inauspicious. For this year of 2014, the primary and secondary wealth sectors are in the South and North sector of your house respectively. Make use of that area in your house more often to enhance the wealth luck. You can also open the windows at that area to let the positive energy into your house, as well as put a fish tank or water feature at those areas to enhance the positive energy.

The most inauspicious area is at the Northwest sector of your house. Technically, the Five Yellow star, which causes obstacles to career and sickness, is at that sector of your house this year. Avoid all forms of renovation or drilling to that sector this year, and avoid spending too much time in those areas. If there is no choice, hang a 6 rod metallic wind chime at that area so that the metallic sound will minimise this negative energy. The other inauspicious star, which is the Two Black Sickness Star, is at the East sector. The rules and cures are similar to the Five Yellow Star above. The last inauspicious area is the Northeast sector. This is the where the Robbery Star is. If activated by renovations or drilling, it could bring about accidents, injuries as well as loss of wealth. Avoid spending time in that area if possible.

MFA: What should one be wary off this year? Any colours, stones or elements we should hold on to or avoid?

David Tong: As the year of the Wood Horse is a year of the romance star, we expect to see more couples coming together and get married. But at same time, there will also be more separations and divorces, as well as lustful temptations that leads to extra-marital affairs and hence breakup in marriages. For those who are married or attached, if you value your family or partner, be sure to reject all these temptations, otherwise you have to face the consequences.

There are no generic colours or stones in Feng Shui. I personally do not believe in the fact that a person’s personal colour changes annually. From a destiny point of view, a person’s favourable colours are derived from each individual’s destiny chart (using birthday and time of birth) and this colour remains unchanged throughout your life.
