With all the ins- and outs- of Singapore’s dynamic food scene, it can be hard to keep up with the newbies in town. After all, every month welcomes its share of brilliant new restaurants, cafes, bars, and everything in between – proving that eating out in Singapore never ceases to be a pretty kickass experience.

In case you missed it: acclaimed London-based restaurateur Alan Yau (of chain restaurant Wagamama and Michelin-starred Hakkasan) makes his debut Southeast Asia with Madame Fan. Located in the iconic The NCO Club, the delightfully sensual restaurant serves elevated Chinese cuisine with dishes like Drunken Crab Rice Noodles and Crispy Aromatic Duck.

Another familiar name to (finally!) make its way onto our shores is Claypot Full Circles. Originally from Melbourne, the seafood restaurant and bar concept cooks up a wicked Mediterranean-Asian inspired seafood menu, with mouthwatering dishes like Shellfish Stir-Fry and Full Circle Port Arlington Mussels. And if you’re gluten-free, here’s some good news: Singapore’s hip dining enclave of Tiong Bahru also welcomes The Butcher’s wife, a fully dedicated gluten-free restaurant.

The Butcher’s Wife
Now, if 'gluten-free' calls to mind uninspiring dishes, think again. Helmed by Head Chef Diego Carlos Quispe, The Butcher’s Wife is reinventing what you think and know about gluten-free diet through its scrumptious gluten-free meals. True to his signature style of comfort cooking, there are hearty starters like a Green Peas Hummus served alongside a grilled lamb sausage, yoghurt, mint and pistachios; seafood dishes like a Cured Salmon accompanied with pickled courgettes, creme fraiche and chia seeds. Their selection of mains includes best-cut meats, fresh catch and harvests and there's even something for the vegetarians like the Sprouting Broccoli & Tardivo Salad. Scouring gluten-free desserts is somewhat of an impossible task, which is why non-gluten eaters will love how their dessert menu which includes mouthwatering creations like a Strawberries Pavlova, Rum Baba and White Chocolate, and more - which you can enjoy with their selection of wines!

Claypots Full Circle
You might recognise the Claypots franchise from Australia. First launching some 22 years ago in Melbourne, Claypots Full Circle is the group's first edition outside of Australia - aptly named for its 'homecoming' for both its Singaporean founders. It's all about letting the produce speak for itself here - all its seasoning are intentionally minimal to allow the robust flavours of their fresh catch through. The menu is arranged around starters, fresh plates, blackboard specials and dessert, all inspired by their signature bold Mediterranean-Asian approach to seafood.

Greenwood Fish Market (Dempsey Hill)
You heard it here first: there’s a new Greenwood Fish Market in town. Nestled in the lush hills of Dempsey Road this time, the new 8,300 square feet grocer-meets-restaurant space is every bit the fresh seafood haven as its predecessors. There’s a standing oyster bar; a bakery which whips up freshly baked bread daily; yakitori, sushi and sashimi bar; full-bar lounge, and even an in-house florist. Give their chargrilled dishes a go, which boasts of mouth-watering flavours thanks to the charcoal-applewood blend. Designed in an ocean kitsch decor, it’s a pretty sweet spot for a hearty meal with your loved ones.

Madame Fan is the brainchild of London-based restaurateur Alan Yau, famed for starting chain eateries like Wagamama and Michelin-starred Hakkasan - and marks his first venture in Southeast Asia. Located in the iconic and nostalgic The NCO Club along Beach Road, there’s everything from the delightfully tasty Drunken Crab Rice Noodles and Crispy Aromatic Duck to an impressive spread of dim sum, stir-fried Gail Lan and hand-cut Taiwanese noodles. Its ambience is also worth a mention; with its lush velvet seats, eclectic playlist and dim, moody interiors, it takes you back to the roaring twenties.
