Finding the perfect place to rest up during your overseas holiday can be tricky.

Chūō-ku boasts incredible shopping opportunities as well as gastronomic experiences in places like Kuromon Market ("Osaka's Kitchen"). If you’re looking for culture, head on over to Osaka Castle and immerse yourself in Japanese tradition.

Banglampoo, Bangkok, Thailand
With ever-evolving marketplaces and a bar scene that’s popular with travellers, this neighbourhood located in northern Bangkok also offers fish spas, locally famous noodle shops and temples. There’s plenty to do and see in busy Banglampoo.

Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Colloquially known as Little India, Brickfields is home to the Maha Vihara Temple, which locals visit for a little peace and quiet. With Indian restaurants at every turn, you’ll be sure to find cheap and authentic Indian snacks as well as plenty of vegetarian options.

While the Bordeaux region is known for its delicious wine, Capucins is known for its food. The city’s major attraction is the Marché des Capucins open air market (also known as “the belly of Bordeaux”), where people go to buy fresh seafood, tapas, tagine dishes and seasonal produce.

Koukaki is located adjacent to The Acropolis and, like many places in Greece, offers visitors a myriad of historical experiences and ancient treasures. The pine covered slopes of Philopappos Hill reaches 147 metres high and offers wonderful views of Athens.

So you’ve picked out the exact country you’d like to spend your next vacation in, and you’ve also decided on a city. What’s left is deciding as to which neighbourhood will offer you the most out of your little holiday and for that you might want to do a little research.

Luckily for us, Airbnb has recently released a list of the most up-and-coming local neighbourhoods in popular cities. They have based their findings on booking data made by the website’s 40 million users, identifying the bustling Chūō-ku in Osaka, Japan as the neighbourhood that should top your 2016 travel bucket list, followed closely by Bangkok’s chaotic Banglampoo.
