Memory Lane: Robinsons opens nostalgic Heritage Shop
mis à jour le 3 May 2019 à 22:48Not only do you get to learn more about Singapore's first department store but you'll also get to take home a slice of the city's heritage with their iconic tableware collection.

Not many would be privy to the storied history of Singapore's first department store, Robinsons, but with the opening of their new Heritage Shop, taking a walk down memory lane would be that much easier.
The quaint corner will host three features to appropriately illustrate the store's past, namely an exhibition of vintage artefacts, a selection of Robinsons memorabilia and display panels detailing Robinsons' significant events and their journey thus far. With vintage photos taken from archives, and old catalogues on display, you can essentially witness some of the defining moments in history such as their in store fashion shows - the first of its kind among department stores.
Beyond immersing yourself in the photos and vintage artefacts that were donated by Robinsons' customers, you can also expect to shop from the Collection De La Maison, which features Fine Bone China tableware inspired by the facade of the first Robinsons building at Raffles Place.
Fun fact: Did you know that while the building was hit by bombs during World War II, it nonetheless opened for business the next day? If that doesn't prove our innate shopping spirit, we don't know what will.
In addition to that, there will also be selected items from National Heritage Board's Museum Label where the designs are all reflective of Singapore's heritage and artistic elements, such as peranakan tiles. So if you're looking to grab a piece of Singapore's culture or own exquisite tableware that's iconic to the nation's first grand dame of a department store then heading up to Level 5 of Robinsons The Heeren would be it.
Or we'll be sweeping it clean before you know it.
