Office Life: And the best company to work for is…
For the 4th consecutive year, the Great Place to Work Institute published a ranking of the top companies to work for in the world. Here’s a hint, the first on the list is a giant of the World Wide Web.
If you wish to combine both personal and professional fulfillment, working at Google is a natural choice as evidenced by the results of the following study.
The employees of 6,200 companies (employing 11.5 million people) across more than 50 countries were surveyed and Google emerged on top followed by SAS Institute (a software publisher) and Net App (a data and content management company). Fun fact: these results have not changed from last year!
To be included in this survey, companies must meet certain criteria. They must have at least 5,000 employees in the world, have at least 40% of their employees work outside of their head office and must have been recognized in at least 5 national award lists throughout the world. The companies must also agree to be a part of the study before being surveyed.
The award-winning companies are then assessed with the ‘trust index’ - an anonymous questionnaire sent to the employees - and the ‘culture audit’ - a qualitative evaluation of the corporate culture and managerial practices.
Now let’s wait and see if the list changes next year. However, at the rate Google is going with its exuberant offices, we doubt the list will be changing anytime soon.
