Cuff your jeans
Show proof of 'lengthy' legs by cuffing your jeans slightly at the hem. A fold or two will reveal a generous amount of ankle and make you appear taller, even without heels. Remember not to go too short as the wrong length will immediately create the wrong effect. Stopping right above the ankles is your best bet.

Go monochrome
Wearing a single-colour outfit won't section off the legs from your body, and instead create a seamless flow of colour that will give an illusion of an elongated frame. This is also effective when matching the colour of your bottoms to your shoes.

High-waist anything
Fooling others that your waist begins higher on your body than it actually does will let your legs look longer, so high-waist skirts and trousers are about to be your best bottoms. However, be mindful to wear the trend only where it feels comfortable - going too high up the rib cage will not only cause discomfort, but it will also give the reverse effect of an unusually short torso!

If you've ever bought a pair of pants that were just too long and haven't found the time to get them altered, hold your horses. Get away with wearing the full length of those trousers by pairing them with sky-high heels - hiding your shoes under the pants will give you effortless legs for days, and no one would ever be able to guess your real height. This styling method is best for boot-cut and wide-leg jeans, or flared trousers.

Flesh-tone shoes
Nude footwear won't cut off your legs and make them appear never-ending. A colour close to your skin tone (but not exact, as this might make you look barefoot instead!) is chic when applied to sandals, ankle boots, ballet flats and heels.

Here's one for our petite ladies. Many Singaporean women fall under that category, and despite being surrounded by other petite women, we always aspire and wish we were taller (we always want what we can't have, don't we?) However, fret not, you don't have to go under the knife to add a few inches to your height - clever fashion choices and smart proportion play are all you need.

AVOID TOO MUCH FABRIC

A point to note is that anything oversized or too long will swallow up your petite frame. So always try to opt for fitted clothes with lengths that are just right for your height. Trousers or jeans should never bunch up at your feet as they'll create too much heaviness to your legs, and long skirts and dresses that drag on the ground while you walk will only further emphasize your small stature.
