Americana Revisited: Coach Spring 2015 handbag collection
mis à jour le 4 May 2019 à 04:46Filled with pastels, prints and quirky creatures, the American brand's latest range of bags are a stroke of aesthetic ingenuity.

To put it simply, more often than not, Coach tends to be the first introduction of luxury for some consumers and that's usually done through handbags - essentially the backbone of the label's business as well.
Ever since Stuart Vevers took over as Creative Director, Coach is back to displaying true Americana sensibilities that perhaps got lost somewhere during the brand's rapid expansion. By juxtaposing both luxury and utility, the Spring 2015 handbags across the different lines are vibrant and functional staples. Gone are the suede and leather fringe bags of the wild wild west that were shown last season.
In saturated hues, the main line saw a series of bags that featured original drawings by Californian artist and animator, Gary Baseman. The playful and cheeky 'creatures' creates parallel references to the the Coach girl who embodies a mischievous and free-spirited side to her otherwise calm nature.
To travel on the same Americana vein, there is also an elemental range of red, white and blue hues complemented with prints taken from the classic midwestern bandanas and florals inspired by the American Prairie Badlands. Moving on to the Tribal collection, it takes inspiration from traditional Native American patterns where three bespoke prints have either been intricately woven or embroidered to result in whimsical and bold handbags.
Lastly, this season welcomes a new shape - the aptly named Swagger Carryall, which is a contemporary blend of elegance with street-inspired edge. Coupled with Coach's rich pebbled leather and re-interpreted archival features, including the signature turnlock, the Swagger bag on your arms may just about change the manner of your walk accordingly.
So judging from the available range, it seems like Vevers is definitely on the right track to up Coach's fashion credentials and boy are we glad he's handling the reins.
The Coach Spring 2015 handbag collection will be available from February 2015 onwards at all stores.
