Neck Contouring: Is this new technique going to be a beauty hit or miss?

Now that you’ve mastered the art of contouring your face, lets move on to the neck

Have we taken the contouring trend too far? The trend, which was first started to recede the appearance of shadows on our face, has now spread to our necks. Yes, you read that right. Neck contouring is now a thing and it is being done to add structure to the collar bone as well as the neck line.

The neck is often a feature most women tend to neglect. It is as important as your face and helps to tie in your entire makeup look. The Internet is abuzz now with the latest trend of neck contouring. Video tutorials of the technique have been flooding social media. Beauty vlogger Makeup Wearables created this quick Instagram video above to show you how to contour your neck and while we are loving the results of it, it does seem a little messy to do on yourself when you are unable to see the steps clearly without twisting your neck muscles a little too much.

All you are going to need are 2 concealers, one of a darker shade and the other a lighter one. The technique involves drawing two dark bands on each side of your neck and a lighter band in the center. Blend the lines seamlessly using a beauty sponge or a stipple brush and you’ll instantly have a more sculpted neck, which appears elongated and slim.

While we love the effects, it is a technique we might just reserve for special occasions where we want to look put together and glamorous. It seems a little too excessive for a daily makeup routine but if you are feeling fancy, why not?

Will you be trying this trend soon or are you going to just stick to the traditional facial contour.
