10 Effective brush cleansers and mists to keep makeup tools spotless

While this may not be your favourite activity when it comes to the world of beauty, cleaning your beauty tools is of utmost importance.

Many of us are guilty of not cleaning our beauty tools, such as brushes regularly. Seeing how they are essential for our routines, more care should go into ensuring they’re in top notch quality. By doing so, not only are we keeping our beauty routine sanitary but prolonging the shelf life of our brushes.

As we know quality brushes come with a hefty price tag and can be loaded with gunk from excess product over time. When not washed regularly, the build up of makeup residues can lead to clogged pores and breakouts if we were to use those very brushes on our skin – not something we would want to deal with after a day’s worth of work.

Additionally, not taking care of your brushes well can lead to the bristles shedding much faster than expected. If the idea of individually washing your brushes and letting them dry out in the sun is putting you off, there is some good news. While we cannot eliminate the entire process, innovative products such as spray-on brush cleansers and mists do provide some solace. These products are great for cleansing, disinfecting and conditioning your brush bristles in a fraction of the usual time needed. A full deep cleansing routine is still needed but once every three weeks instead. That is a good compromise isn’t it?

HOW TO USE:

Begin by spraying your brushes with the product solution, coating it well. Give it a few seconds to settle in and gently brush the bristles against a kitchen napkin (as that is less harsh). Use circular swirling motions just as you would do when blending eye shadow into your crease. Next flip the napkin over and repeat the process. You will notice your brush becoming cleaner. Once there is no longer makeup residue coming off, take another napkin to pat your brush dry. Adjust the bristles in an upward direction. Wait a minute or two before using.

We love using this technique for spot cleaning, especially in between the transition of using heavily pigmented eyeshadow shades. While it will still take time for robots to be created to clean our brushes, head over the gallery up top for a round up of brush cleansers and mists to try in the meantime.
