With our round up of contour products, you will no longer have to deal with muddy looking contour marks.

We are all beautiful regardless of the colour of our skin. From pale to fair to medium and even dark, our skin tones make us unique. It can be quite frustrating where there is a makeup trend on board and we are unable to try it out due to a lack of shade selections. If you have pale or even light skin tones, it might be a tad bit difficult to pull of the contour look. Most contour products if not chosen right can look ashy or muddy on the skin.

Pale or lighter skin tones have to pay extra attention and blend the product out well to avoid the appearance of visible streaks marks.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR IN MY CONTOUR PRODUCT?

When choosing a contour shade, it is important to choose one which is going to complement your pale or light skin tone. The purpose of contouring is to recede certain features. To do that best, choose a contour product with golden and warm undertones. Avoid choosing products which lean towards the cooler or ashier side. This can add extra years to your age and make you look dull and sunken – certainly not what we are looking for.

Using a golden warm contour product for example can help to draw the right amount of light away from the skin and add radiance to your face, as though it has been perfectly sun kissed.

HOW TO CONTOUR:

Start off by understanding the structure of your face. Suck in the hollows of your cheeks to observe the position of your cheekbones. Using a fluffy or kabuki brush, apply the contour product to the hollows, temples and along your jawline, as though you were drawing a number 3. Blend the contours well into your skin to avoid any harsh lines. Relax your facial muscles and check if the contour looks overly visible. If it does, blend it out even more. We want the contour lines to appear as natural as possible and not overly made up. Set your face with a makeup setting spray and you’re good to go.
