Sex and the City (1998-2004)
From the get-go, viewers were as hooked on Carrie Bradshaw’s love life as they were on her fabulous wardrobe and enviable shoe collection. If Mrs Big’s sartorial style didn’t strike a chord with you, her three best friends, sex-pot Samantha, androgynous Miranda and classic Charlotte must have influenced your wardrobe at some point. From their shopping sprees to their Manolo Blahnik obsession, the dynamic foursome’s fashion escapades certainly made the show a legendary one amongst fashionistas the world over.

That 70’s Show (1998-2006)
It didn’t matter that The 70’s Show played out in the 90s. We all wanted to have the svelte bell-bottoms, cute wedges, shirt dresses, mini skirts and unisex hippie accessories that Donna and Jackie wore in every episode.

Pretty Little Liars (2010)
We may not be any closer to finding out who A is but we certainly have learnt a thing or two about dressing stylishly from these fashionable little liars whose wardrobes run the gamut from vintage finds to the latest fashion trends.

Dynasty (1981-1989)
Catfights, backstabbing and gloriously over-the-top trials and tribulations of the wealthy Carrington and Colby clans play out amidst shoulder pads, feather boas and fur coats. The cast of Dynasty had one of the most pioneering wardrobes of 80s television.

True Blood (2008-2014)
Sookie and Sophie-Anne Leclerq certainly make 500 year-old bloodsucking vampires look glamorous with their sexy camis, print dresses and plunging necklines.

Gossip Girl (2007-2012)
A show centred on rich kids in New York’s elite Upper East Side is bound to be a fashion parade and the story’s central characters Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen certainly don’t disappoint with their big name designer bags mixed with bright tights, headbands, capelets, leather jackets and more.

Mad Men (2007-2015)
John Hamm aside, the other thing most of us drooled over in this 1860s-era TV series were the divine cocktail dresses, tailored pencil skirts, cat-eye sunglasses, sleek high-rise pants and impeccable hair.

Revenge (2011-2015)
Revenge is a dish best served cold. But if you’re Emily Thorne and the Hamptons is your playground, you’re going to make sure you look sizzling hot while stabbing your foes and scheming the downfall of those who oppose you. Fine jewellery and a ravishing wardrobe (who could forget the show-stopping red dress Emily wore?) were definitely added perks to an already interesting plotline.

Ugly Betty (2006-2010)
Betty Suarez aka Ugly Betty might not be your poster girl for fashion inspiration but her boss Wilhemina Slater and MODE, the magazine she worked for certainly provided for over-the-top ensembles and an interesting peek into the world of fashion shows, photoshoots and style ops.

Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009)
The lives of three New York City alpha females working in the fashion industry inspired us as much as their on-trend outfits that ranged from over-the-top ball gowns, high heels, It-bags and sheath dresses. Whatever professional problems the Manhattan trio were facing, they did so with finesse and high heels in spades.

Between magazines, fashion shows, celebrities and style blogs, we’re certainly not short of inspiration when it comes to fashion. But when it all gets oversaturated, we can always count on our favourite TV shows for celluloid fashion inspiration.

Alexis from Dynasty, Carrie from Sex and the City and Blair from Gossip Girl have all at some point influenced the style choices of girls the world over with their impeccable, fashion forward wardrobes that dictated and influenced the trends of the time. Who could forget the time Carrie Bradshaw’s Fendi Baguette bag started the whole It-bag craze back in the 90s?

The stars may have faded and the shows may have come to an end, but the fashion lives on to inspire us many years on. From Dynasty to Mad Men, let’s take a look at some of the most fashionable TV shows of all time.
