Staff Picks: Marie France Asia’s favourite TV shows
updated the 6 October 2015 à 23:15This weekend, all we’ll be doing is hiding out in our bed to watch all of the television shows that we’re currently addicted to. Which is yours?
So this week, seeing that we’ve been way too busy in preparation for our first ever Networking Night, we know we’ll be spending the weekend curled up in bed for an epic television marathon. From Suits to Scandal, Sherlock and Game of Thrones, we’re pretty sure these television shows are on your roster as well. But if they’re not then please do let us know which are your favourites and we would love to add them to our list! Popcorn or chips anyone?

Sherlock
“I have to admit, ever since moving solo into my very own apartment, I have been watching more TV than ever. Mostly ‘light’ TV to unwind after a busy day at work (The Voice, Ellen and Saturday Night Live are my favourites). But when I really want to watch some good TV, BBC’s ‘Sherlock‘ has to be the one – and no, not because I have a crush on Benedict Cumberbatch like every other woman.

The Odd Couple
“So I’m not just a movie buff but a self-confessed, downright television addict. Almost like clockwork, everyday my routine would be watch a tv show before bed – if i’m not in the mood for books that is. I love my Family Guy and South Park like an overgrown child but then again Harvey Specter and Suits is just impeccable. However, my ultimate favourite at the moment would be The Odd Couple, mostly just because Matthew Perry. While the jokes may not always be on point and the plot is cliche, that Matthew Perry brings back memories of Chandler in Friends is just perfect.”

Game of Thrones
“Why do I like GOT? Two words: Kit Harrington. Just joking… at least that’s not the only reason. The show is a masterpiece. Anybody who complains about the vulgarity hasn’t given the storyline a chance. The story has so many layers and the characters are well developed. GOT is unpredictable and gripping. Whatever you think — think the opposite!”
Cheryl – Lifestyle & Beauty Writer
Empire
“I watch way too many TV shows to be able to pick just one. I am currently watching Rupaul’s Drag Race, 2 Broke Girls, NCIS, Bones, The Blacklist, Sherlock, Luther, Supernatural…. You get the gist of my obsession. But, my absolute favourite of the moment that I am super addicted to, is Empire. It’s like Glee meets Days of Our Lives. The music is all produced by Timbaland and I get to see the amazing Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard reunite on screen. I’ve loved them since Hustle & Flow, and this is like a continuation of that story. Plus, Taraji’s one liners on the show are epic! Am I right, boo boo kitty?'”
Karen – Editorial Intern
Homeland
“Homeland has to be my overall favourite TV show. This show is unconventional in the way it puts a spotlight on the CIA working outside of America. It has a strong plot and just the right amount of suspense to keep you waiting for the next episode in anticipation.”
Rebekah – Features Writer
Modern Family
“I can’t get enough of the dry humour in this show! The drama, however exaggerating, highlights the reality in pretty much every (dysfunctional) family. It sure feels good to be able to laugh at the odd things that we or the people around us do. All members of the cast also play their roles so convincingly that I have a hard time reconciling their on-screen and off-screen personas. Go watch it if you haven’t already!”

Suits

Friends
“It’s relaxing and so hilarious! It’s not that recent anymore but to me, nothing has really transcended it since.”
Adeline – Senior Business Development Manager
Scandal
“I have 2, and they will be my all-time favourites. I love Mad Men for its art direction and storyline, however, I kinda got lost somewhere around Season 6. Scandal is the only TV show that I am still obsessively following despite my crazy schedule.
I love the storyline between President Grant and Olivia, as well as all the crazy controversies that happen in the white house. I always enjoy watching it with chips and wine after my 5 year-old had gone to bed. It is my number 1 guilty pleasure.”
