By now, it’s apparent that our lives rotate around the virtual world. While some relish in the realm to incessantly share cat videos and lunchtime escapades, others see it as an avenue to get updates on social, cultural and political happenings around the globe – all from the touch of a button.

However, as more and more users adopt the digital platform, a headache-inducing visual blur tends to result, just from the sheer noise of an information overload. This noise ultimately tends to cripple an outlet for creative expression and that is where Singapore-based label, Mash Up bases its Autumn Winter 2014/15 inspiration on.

By taking cues from the Glitch movement and the deconstruction of images, the quirky and always experimental brand re-created effects onto garments to reflect a certain post-apocalyptic cyber world. With that in mind, expect to see jeans that have been re-interpreted into tops and garments that are essentially constructed from a mixture of fabrics remnants from past collections – consider this is fashionable upcycling at its best.

Silhouettes in the collection are generally centered around crop tops, pencil skirts, t-shirts and jersey dresses, all of which feature a mosaic-esque pattern. Some even come with the word ‘logout’ boldly sprawled across coupled with a ‘power’ logo.

As you step back though, the collection will also make you feel as though somehow you’ve managed to break the Internet into smithereens and are now stuck in a limbo between real and online life. Whichever the case, consider our minds intrigued and rattled by the designs because we need to get our hands on one of those jersey dresses and pencil skirts for work, stat!

Mash Up Autumn Winter 2014/15 collection is available at Superspace and online.
