The whimsical Singapore-based label, Hansel unveils its latest Fall collection inspired by party decorations, specifically by fairy lights.

Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings or baby showers, the one ubiquitous aspect that ties all sorts of parties together are the streamers, hats, balloons, party poppers and of course fairy lights. Ah, it is precisely these kaleidoscopic fairy lights that got Jo Soh, designer of Singapore-based label, Hansel all starry-eyed with inspiration for her Fall Winter 2014 collection.

The collection prominently features Jo’s hand-drawn (done using bamboo quill and Indian ink) interpretation of fairy lights in a multi-coloured floral-like arrangement that appears in a series of versatile dresses. Paring down the motley of prints is a selection of rich colour-block looks that add irrefutable charm and carries the collection forward to gain wider appeal.

Launched in 2003, Hansel has chocked up a tremendous amount of support in the industry for its convivial take to fashion design, coupled with a subtle inclination towards vintage styles. Similarly, the designer, Jo Soh, has quite the clout backing her as a visual thinker and creative force – if you think about it, the label builds itself when there’s a brilliant individual at the helms of the business.

Lastly, since the heart of the label lies in iconic prints, we’re glad that the brand has continued to forthrightly embrace its candid and whimsical vein to exude an unfettered joie de vivre – it’s hard not to fall head over heels with this homegrown genius!

Hansel’s Fairy Lights collection is now available at their flagship store (Mandarin Gallery) and online.
