How often should we weigh ourselves?
Every day, every week, every month? Our nutritionist explains how often we should step on the scales and how to obtain a reliable result.
Are you a weighing machine lover and do you weigh yourself every day? Are you are in period of weight loss and you need 'to see' the result? Do you worry about the first additional kilo displayed on the scale? If so, be careful, as the scrutiny may do you more harm than good!
Food balance is not made in a day, but rather over the course of a week. It’s the same for the balance of your weight. It is important to understand that whatever efforts you make, your weight will fluctuate by more or less one kilo over a week; even more if you are a woman with hormonal variations. Weighing yourself on the same day each week, and at the same time of day, will provide a reliable reference point and will allow you to follow your progress in an effective, stress-free manner.
FOCUS = RISK OF FAILURE
Your weight does not have to determine your mood every morning. If you are really a weighing machine addict, I suggest you gradually decrease the number of weekly weighing sessions (even daily). You will soon see that forgetting about the scales from time to time will change your life.
TWO TIPS FOR OBTAINING A RELIABLE WEIGHT
To have the best comparison point possible, it is recommended to weigh yourself in the morning on an empty stomach, and on the same day each week. In the same way, wearing different clothes can bias the result on the balance. Therefore, weigh yourself naked, or wearing only underwear, to obtain a more accurate result.
