Yes folks, ‘bubble hotels’ are officially a thing – and they’re definitely floating top of the list as our favourite hotel trend to date.

Offbeat travel options are certainly gaining traction as the travel trend of the 2010s. After all, you’re probably no stranger to the likes of glamping, treetop hotels, and eco-lodges. Designed to let you immerse in nature without quite leaving your material comforts behind, they’ve certainly been a buzzworthy hotel and travel trend in recent years.

Now, here’s a new wave of hotels that are leaving us albeit bubbling with excitement: bubble hotels. Now, ‘bubble hotels’ are exactly what you’d imagine them to be: see-through, dome-shaped accommodation with unhampered views of its surroundings.

We were first acquainted with the idea of a bubble hotel when heard about the Buubble Iceland. Aptly dubbed the “Five Million Star Hotel” for its unparalleled views of the star-speckled night sky, these bubble hotels resemble inflatable igloos and were quickly touted as the perfect spot to catch the Northern Lights. In short, pretty spectacular stuff.

But if flying to the North Pole is out of your means, fret not; there’s one closer to home. Called the Bubble Hotel Bali, this bubble retreat in Uluwatu is just a stone’s throw away from the Indian Ocean. Minimalism is the modus operandi here. Each bubble hotel is designed with a transparent domed exterior which offers views of the breathtaking ocean, and a bed – but nothing else.

Talk about escaping into your own perfect little bubble. Browse the gallery above for 8 incredible bubble hotels we’re absolutely lusting over!
