Poetry Festival Singapore

Why: Have the “rhyme” of your life by heading over to Poetry Festival Singapore this weekend! Under the theme of honoring diversity and youth, the literary fest will feature spoken word poetry of Singapore’s official languages, Benches, a poetic play written in collaboration with Giovanni Ortega and Ranice Tay, as well as a keynote address by local pioneer of English poetry, Chandran Nair.

Sephora Playhouse

The Sephora Playhouse is a pop-up exhibition with fun and interactive themed rooms – each custom-built and inspired by your favourite beauty brands. Singapore Restaurant Festival
When: Until 30 September 2018
Where: Various locations islandwide.
Why: The Singapore Restaurant Festival is back in town! Be it an emergency ice-cream run at Udders, or a fancy date night at Chef’s Table by Stephan Zoisl, there’s definitely a restaurant for your picking. Be sure to participate in the lucky draws happening all-festival-round and win irresistible prizes and dining vouchers as you dine in any of their participating restaurants! The festival's July theme, ‘Japanese and Heritage’ cuisine theme, will be followed by ‘Western and Korean’ in August, and concluding with delicious ‘Chinese and Asian’ bites in September. Some newcomers this year include Bedrock Bar & Grill, Dean & Deluca, Punjab Grill, The Marmalade Pantry, Pizza Maru, Hello Kitty Orchid Garden, Pince & Pints, Fat Cow, The Flying Squirrel, Two Hana and Seoul in a Sandwich among others, so make sure you check out their menus as well!

ArtScience on Screen: Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story

Why: As part of this year’s Sentosa Grill Fest, Siloso Beach will transform itself into a kilometre-long beachside street food fiesta featuring Sentosa's dining establishments and Singapore's very own 2nd-generation Hawkers! 50 Cents Fest

Why: For a nostalgic return to Singapore's colonial era, head down to The 50 Cents Fest happening this July at Chinatown Food Street! As part of the Singapore Food Festival, the entire street will transform into a nostalgic “pasar” or street hawker scene. Immerse yourself in Singapore's colonial past with its selection of over 30 iconic old-school dishes served up by 20 stalls and mobile hawkers! As you take a little “digestive” walk around the street sipping on your cup of kopi, take in the old-school performances that include street buskers, letter writers, calligraphers and fortune-tellers, as well as black-and-white outdoor movie screenings and martial art performances! The best bit? All you need is just 50 cents to enjoy it all!

Angkor: Exploring Cambodia’s Sacred City–Masterpieces of the Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet

Why: Due to popular demand, this Asian Civilisations Museum exhibit on Angkor culture and artwork will be extended for another week! The exhibition showcases over 140 sculptures, watercolours, drawings, and historical memorabilia from the Guimet Museum in Paris, and will allow visitors to rediscover the ancient city of Angkor's arts and architecture.

Enjoy the sounds and visuals of these avant-garde, high-tech photography exhibition!

Why: A collaboration between the DISINI festival and Chan + Hori Contemporary, " " (this is not a typo, it's really supposed to be blank!) is a solo exhibition by esteemed Thai contemporary artist Kamin Lertchaiprasert. this special exhibition. This solo exhibition also connects with Kamin’s monumental outdoor installation, The Ground, which is currently on exhibit at Malan Road as part of DISINI. Consisting of three life-sized papier-mâché sculptures in transparent vitrines stacked around eight-metres high, The Ground comprises a tree trunk, elephant and figure in meditation.
