From Cara Delevingne to J Lo and Scarlett Johansson - the best-dressed celebrities at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards proved bold colours and attention to detail were in.

Cara Delevingne looked demure in her flowy Reem Acra plum mini-dress. The lace, the pockets, the dramatic draping and the turtleneck work to compliment her figure. We like how she went for a soft hairstyle and minimal jewellery.

Holland Roden's Caterina Gatta outfit is exactly the type of look that's appropriate for the season, it’s a touch retro, the patterns are just right and the silhouette is something different.

JLo can do no wrong fashion wise. The actress looked stunning in a cleavage baring Versus Versace mini suit dress belted at the waist. We love her minimal jewelry, hair and makeup, too.

Victoria brought some major sparkle to the MTV Movie Awards, with her black and silver shimmer Versace mini dress that had the prettiest pop of pink, just in time for spring!

Charli XCX rocked a flirty, fun and colourful Jeremy Scott plaid jacket dress with some amazing platform boots. The multicoloured outfit is quirky, cheerful and has some major spring vibes going on. Most of all, it's very MTV Movie Awards appropriate.

Shailene's look was one of the more bold ones out there with her stripped top and high-waisted, Isabel Marant pants. The funky boots complete the outfit.

Scarlett was a vision in pink in this Zuhair Murad jumpsuit that showed off her svelte figure. We love how she paired the look with a contrasting baby blue clutch.

Lights, camera, MTV Movie Awards! The biggest names in showbiz hit the red carpet last night for the 2015 MTV Movie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Everyone from veteran actress Jennifer Lopez to rising star Shailene Woodley were in attendance, dressed in their red carpet best. While the Oscars might be about fancy ball gowns and elegant evening wear, the MTV Movie Awards is a chance for the stars to play it up a little and take daring sartorial chances.

Never mind who won what, we're more interested in who wore what! Bold colours and detail oriented outfits seemed to be the consistent theme of the event. Supermodel Cara Delevingne stunned in an intricate dress in a regal shade of purple. Likewise, actress Bella Thorne had incredible attention to detail in her outfit. Scarlett Johansson ditched the conventional dress and wore spring's current hottest outfit: a pink jumpsuit that showed off her enviable figure. Joining the pants brigade was Shailene Woodley with her funky combination of stripes and patterns, paired with boots and a bold lip. We've got to say the looks were fun, fashion forward and yet sartorially chic at the same tie.

Sure there were some fashion fails, but overall, the looks on the red carpet were nothing short of spectacular and truly worthy of fashion column inches. But some were bigger winners than others. Check out our pick of the 10 best dressed stars and their buzz-worthy red carpet outfits.
