Glamorous yet unexpected, here are our best dressed from the 2014 MTV movie awards...
Unlike the Oscars red carpet where Hollywood celebrities put on their 'glamorous' best and compete to be the Belle of the Ball - the MTV Movie Awards one is a place for experimentation.
From Britney Spears to J Lo and many more - this has been an occasion to show the weirdest and most OTT looks that Tinseltown has ever seen.
However, this year it seems as though celebrities opted for a more toned down, classic looks instead. And we kinda like it! To be more specific, here are the 3 looks which caught our eye the most and captured the MTV movie awards spirit - with a classier twist:
Lupita Nyong'o
As usual, the Kenyan newcomer looked beautiful as she posed in Chanel on the red carpet. The actress keeps surprising us with her great taste in fashion, showing up in a completely unexpected dress that was recently on show at Paris Fashion Week. The frock is daring, and makes a bold statement which only she can pull off so well. Lupita completed the stunning look with a pair of aqua-blue pumps by Casadei. The makeup was flawless as well with her signature metallic smokey eyes and a sheer red lip. We love!
Nicki Minaj shocked the crowd as she shows up to the 2014 MTV movie awards in a simple, figure-hugging black gown by Alexander McQueen. Instead of going over the top with her outfit she opted for a toned down look but still kept it very Nicki Minaj with the addition of the greek-inspired gold McQueen jewellery. Minaj also traded in her usual bright makeup for bronzed skin and black winged liner. We love the somewhat minimalistic look on the rapper and hope she opts for outfits just like these more often!
Rihanna rocked the 2014 MTV movie awards in a beautiful Ulyana Sergeenko number. The satin beige bodysuit was completed with a light pink robe dress and Manolo Blahnik nude sandals. The RnB star dressed up this look with sparkling jewels including a Vieri pendant necklace, a Vieri ring and Ana Khouri three-pearl ear cuff. She kept her makeup simple with a bronzed cat-eye and a berry-toned lip while topping the outfit of with a curly updo that screamed seduction. We loved the seductive, lingerie-inspired look which for once looked more classy than trashy. We wonder if she was inspired by Dita Von Teese, don't you think?
