From Julianne Moore to Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon and more – find out who topped and who flopped at the 87th Academy Awards red carpet.

Finally the wait – and the guessing game – is over as the the highly-anticipated 87th Academy Awards took place this morning (Singapore time that is) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Some of the biggest names in show business flocked to the glamorous event, dressed in their designer best and hoping to score high in the style stakes.

Frontrunners – both on and off carpet – Emma Stone and Julianne Moore continued their fashionable display and the climax at the Oscars was worth the wait if slightly unexpected.

While Emma has been championing the menswear trend and an edgy style throughout her earlier appearances, she showed up for the Oscars in a stunning gold embellished Elie Saab gown which showed her softer and extremely feminine side.

On the other hand, Julianne Moore looked a vision in a white custom-made Chanel Couture dress which was a surprising choice since she has been dressed consistently by Givenchy Couture for the past award ceremonies.

it wasn’t all lost for Givenchy’s Riccardo Tiscci though as he got to dress Best Actress contender Rosamund Pike in a stunning custom-made red number which made her one of the best dressed stars on the night.

Although in general, the fashion triumphs were plenty, we were left unimpressed and a little disappointed with a few of the starlets’ choices. Actresses like Jennifer Aniston and Marion Cotillard failed to wow us in their uninspiring choices which landed them on our worst dressed list of the night.

The good, the bad and the ugly – check our gallery above to find out who wore what, and those who stood out on the Oscars red carpet- for  the right or wrong reasons.
