Designer Style: How to dress like your favourite NYFW designer?

Nur Syazana H. https://www.mariefranceasia.com/hk/author/nursyazana 09 Sep 2015 mis à jour le 3 May 2019 à 16:30

Cutting down on the morning "What do I wear today?" fuss seems to be the best option for most designers. Here are some of their go-to outfits.

Carolina Herrera
  • 1/5
    Carolina Herrera
The queen of evening wear has a definite uniform everyone recognises from a mile away - the white shirt and full skirt. The look is easily mimicked with any crisp white shirt you own, tucked into a high-waisted full skirt that can be in any length you wish. Look prim and proper for the office with a knee-length piece or go mini for a weekend soiree. Put on some pearls to channel your inner Carolina and a pair of black stilettos are the perfect finish.

    Diane Von Furstenberg
The ex-princess of Furstenberg, Belgium is known for her iconic wrap dresses and isn't a stranger to being a fan of wearing them herself. Here she's seen in one of her signature shift dresses, accessorised to the nines in chunky gold. Recreate it for yourself and look timeless in a printed wrap dress, with metallic gold heels and jewellery to match.Diane Von Furstenberg Zoe dress, SGD780Diane Von Furstenberg Holla pumps, SGD485Lulu Frost Blackheart bracelet, SGD190Aurélie Bidermann Esteban gold-plated ring, SGD400

    Rachel Zoe
Stylist-turned-designer Rachel Zoe often designs the way she dresses, so it's no wonder fashionistas are so head over heals over both her style and her brand. A more affordable alternative to the suede fringe Burberry Prorsum vest seen on her here (which retails for over a whopping SGD12000!) is an A Wang coat in a similar colour. Go relaxed with a matching-coloured printed T-Shirt underneath and jeans, and top it off with your best black Louboutins.Alexander Wang Oversized raw-edge coat, SGD1545Balmain Logo-print cotton-jersey tank top, SGD275Isabel Marant Étoile Delta high-rise skinny jeans, SGD335Christian Louboutin Fifi 100mm leather pumps, SGD830Balenciaga Stud wrap-around leather bracelet, SGD300

    Marissa Webb
Marissa Webb is a style icon in her own right and one of the most fashion-savvy of the creative lot. Recreate her utilitarian army-green look here with a shirt in the same hue, paired with faux leather leggings and signature black pumps.Equipment Signature linen shirt, SGD435Isabel Marant Étoile Jeffrey faux-leather leggings, SGD370Gianvito Rossi Gianvito suede pumps, SGD870

    Victoria Beckham
Posh Beckham needs no introduction. She always looks impeccable and seen here leaving her hotel, she looks nothing short of amazing. Her wardrobe is full of black and we realise it's a hue she often gravitates towards, so get your best black pieces, in the form of a long coat, heels and T-Shirt, and simply allow a pair of printed pants to take centre stage.  Saint Laurent Patent leather pumps, SGD1045 Marques'Almeida Floral brocade slim-fit trousers, SGD575 Edun Short-sleeved jersey T-shirt, SGD230 Max Mara Studio Ninetta coat, SGD955

New York Fashion Week will be kicking off in the Big Apple and we can't wait to see what interesting angles and creations designers will present for the new season. But as we delve into the fashions they've worked months tirelessly for, why not take a closer look at the wardrobes of the designers themselves?

At the forefront and as the very essence of the fashion industry, these game-changers surely have gotten their own styles down to a T prior to knowing what looks good on other women. Some have even said that those in high places prefer to invest in their own uniform in order to avoid too much decision-making, aside from the important choices they have to make on the work aspect. We agree, as can be seen on designers such as Carolina Herrera (white shirt and full skirt), Diane Von Furstenberg (wrap or shift knee-length dress) and Rachel Zoe (skinny or wide-leg trousers).

So to recreate their styles and fake your own designer profile, take a look at the ensembles we've broken down from fashion's hardest workers themselves in the gallery above.
