While we're all too familiar with the who's who that will be taking over the catwalks of Soho, New York - Jeremy Scott, Derek Lam, Public School and the like - we haven't quite heard enough of the up-and-comers that may just shape the future of American fashion. Where are the fashion school graduates, the underground designers, and the labels that have yet to make their mark in the fashion capital?
We've gone through the nooks and crannies and sourced out 5 labels and designers that will be worth watching once Fashion Month truly commences in the Meatpacking District of the city that never sleeps. In the mix includes designers that have been working tirelessly yet quietly in the background for years, labels from far away lands and even avant garde artists turning food into wearable art. How's that for a kick-start to the new fashion season?
They may seem a little small-town or low key for now, but remember that's exactly how some of the notable designers of today first started out.
