It’s not the least bit cold here, but you can still channel Fall/ Winter vibes with knitted jumpers and cardigans.

Knitted jumpers and cardigans are not only cosy but effortlessly stylish. A tropical island may not be the best place to break out the knitwear, but the heart wants what the heart wants. It is hard to resist buying a knitted jumper soft to the touch, or a Christmas jumper for the festive season. The risk of heatstroke seems like a small price to pay for the sake of fashion. Check out our gallery for our picks of gorgeous knitwear and read on for four tips on wearing knits on the humid little red dot!

Pick the Right Day

Wearing knitwear appropriately all boils down to common sense. Knowing when to wear them is just as important as knowing how. If you know you’re going to be spending the day outdoors, avoid heavy knitwear! Save them for a rainy day in the office or a movie date night.

Wear a Top Underneath

Singapore is not immune to the fickle moods of the weather. The morning can start out grey and wet but turn gloriously sunny by midday. To avoid being stuck on the verge of a heatstroke with a thick knit top, wear a light top underneath that can hold its own as part of your outfit.

Opt For A Wide Turtleneck

Turtlenecks add a touch of elegance to knit jumpers. This classic silhouette can work in the tropics if you choose a loosely fitted turtleneck rather than a tight one.

It’s All About Contrast

When you’re being that covered up on the top, choose to wear an airy skirt or loose trousers rather than tight pants. Not only does it add interest to your outfit, it keeps your body at the maximum cool.
