Righting Wrongs: 5 Terrible 80s trends you can wear today
updated the 16 November 2015 à 10:01The 80s weren’t the best time for fashion, but we’re learning from our mistakes.
There probably isn’t any decade that has been so sartorially mangled as much as the 1980s. When people look back at the 80s, they can hardly do so without wincing at the memory of boxy shoulder pads and neon leg warmers.
80s trends was reduced to a mere parody of fashion till the runways became afflicted with fashion nostalgia. After all, history does always seem to repeat itself. Designers like Balmain started incorporating 80s fashion trends into their collections. We’ve all seen the likes of Balmain’s patron saint Kim Kardashian and the members of her clan sporting heavily and structurally angled shoulders.
With updated silhouettes and stylings, these 80s trends we hoped to never see again have started to resurface in our stores. Thankfully most of what we’ve seen does have been tastefully done, making it seem like the wild styles of the 80s have gotten back into our good graces once again.
Will we regret their rise again? Only time will tell.
