Fashionable protest: Chanel’s ‘Feministe Mais Feminine’ clutch

Why we love it:
When Karl Lagerfeld presented his grand masterpiece of marrying fashion with feminism at the last Paris Fashion Week, everyone was left positively awestruck that the kaiser brilliantly pulled off a theatrical show, once again.
Out of that runway – which was designed to replicate the streets of 1970s Paris – came a multitude of accessories that reflected a grungy vibe by way of sling bags that were scrawled with scribblings or crinkled metallic leather emblazoned with feminist slogans. One of which is a envelope-like clutch bag with the French words, ‘Feministe Mais Feminine’ that translates to ‘Feminist but Feminine’. Ideally, the phrase refers to how women can be feminists, fight unreservedly for their rights and yet need not be any less feminine.
We’d pair this with distressed denim jeans, ankle-strap sandals and a slouchy blouse for any weekend escapade. Along with the slogan, we particularly like the bag for its semi-distressed appearance and the gold-on-gold pair up sends a subtle yet strong point to whoever eyes it. How’s that for sending a message?
