Recipe: Mashed Potatoes Topped with Ham

A favourite with children and adults alike. The aroma of succulent mashed potatoes, served with delicious smoked ham makes for a mouthwatering meal, perfect for any time of the day.

Cooking time: 25 minutes

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

- 12 Potatoes

- 4 slices of ham or smoked ham

- 4 slices of bread

- 40ml full-fat milk

- 120 g of salted butter

- Salt and pepper

Method:

1) Cook the potatoes in their skins, after which, immerse them in cold salted water for 20-25 min.

2) While cooking the potatoes, toast the bread.

3) Heat the milk, salt and pepper on medium heat.

4) Peel the potatoes and put them through a food mill . Stir in the milk and half the butter. Adjust the seasoning if necessary, to suit your taste.

5) Butter the slices of bread and place the ham on top . Cut into long, thin sticks.

6) Melt the remaining butter until it has a nice hazelnut color.

7) Pour the melted butter over the potato and ham combination.

8) Remove the blotters and serve.
