Many of us experience discomfort to the skin and, according to a study carried out by Skincode research lab, 75% of women are affected. The discomfort is mainly due to allergies or irritation. In answer to this seemingly common and troublesome issue, the Swiss-based beauty brand has formulated a range of skincare products that are aimed at minimising negative impact to sensitive skin.

So how is Skincode addressing sensitive skin issues and what can they do to help prevent irritation?

The manufacturer is focused on developing products that are backed by extensive medical and pharmaceutical research and that deliver benefits to the skin while remaining free of preservatives, artificial fragrances, animal derivatives and artificial colouring.

The two ranges that Marie France Asia was introduced to are Skincode Essentials and Skincode Exclusive.

Skincode Essentials: Everyday care for sensitive skin

As the word suggests, the “Essentials” range is formulated to address daily needs of the skin. It contains botanical plant extracts and active ingredients (CM-Glucan) that protect the skin from environmental pollutants.

This range provides everything that is needed to sustain a daily skincare regime, from cleansers, toners, moisturisers and eye-care to masks and age-prevention creams.

The Lifting Moisture Mask (Masque Hydro-tenseur) comes in clear gel form and is dense in consistency. It can be used both as a hydrating mask and as a moisturiser.

When applied as a thick layer to the skin, this formula will act as a mask and will replenish the skin with moisture and hydration in about 10 minutes. After rinsing, the skin is left slightly firmer and looks invigorated.

To use the mask as a lifting cream, apply a very thin layer onto the skin and leave to dry. No need to rinse or add moisturiser as a top layer. The silky feeling left on the skin is similar to the one left by a thick solution of Aloe Vera; likely due to the fact that Aloe is one of the ingredients of the moisture mask.

Skincode Exclusive: Skin rescue range

The “Exclusive” range is apt for frequent use on mature skin and sporadic use on younger skin. The active ingredient (Active Cellular Regenerating Complex, Generation 2 or ACR Complex G2) has allegedly proved increase in cell renewal, immediate reduction of lines and wrinkles and repair to photo damaged skin. This ingredient, together with a “moisture matrix” of natural compounds that nourish and plump the skin, is the key strength of the “Exclusive” line.

In this case, the products falling under the range are focussed on providing targeted and specialised anti-aging solutions and intensive skincare.

For intensive care, we tested the Cellular Perfect Skin Capsules. At the price of USD 3+ per capsule (the packaging carries 45 pieces) the product does deliver what it promises.

One capsule suffices for the whole face and neck and leaves the skin with peach-like suppleness and smoothness. The visible effects are even radiance and silky appearance. This anti-oxidant recovery serum stimulates the deeper layers of the skin by activating the cells’ metabolism while improving blood circulation.
