WHY WE LOVE IT

If orange is the new black then tweed is the new cat eye when it comes to sunglasses. We know this style – in clothes – isn’t exactly common in Singapore because our gloriously hot weather doesn’t allow for it (wool in 38 degrees??) so hey, we might not be able to wear it but that doesn’t mean our eyes have to miss out! And when it comes to tweed, nobody does it better than the tweed maestros themselves: Chanel. It is a signature emblem continuously visited by Karl Lagerfeld in his Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture collections, so it’s no surprise he’s finally embellished them on sunglasses.

You might be expecting the dour grey and brown tones usually associated with tweed, but Chanel gives us a cheerful summer palette of yellow, blue, green, and red. Black, grey and brown are also available if you insist on the traditional colours. Continuing with the joyful summer theme, frames are available in a maxi butterfly or elongated square shape, because there’s only so much cat-eye we can take right now. Plus, their oversized frames give it a touch of added glamour a la Brigitte Bardot. If you’re not up to dolling up, and feeling like boyfriend jeans and flats, these sunglasses will be the ultimate accessory to dress any outfit up!

So ladies, for a light-hearted summer look with that unmistakable Chanel elegance, look no further than the new Chanel Tweed Eyewear Collection.

WHERE TO BUY IT

The collection will be available in CHANEL boutiques from May 2015.
