OOTD: Normcore weekend

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:31

It’s all about comfort this weekend as we get back to the basics and blend in to stand out.

Weekends are a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the other 5 days. You spend your Mondays to Fridays looking your professional best, wearing blazers, that uncomfortable skirt and heels higher than your career aspirations. Admit it, it’s exhausting and the last thing you want to do on the weekend is dress up.

We totally understand. That’s why this weekend it’s all about the normcore look. A portmanteau of the words “normal” and “hardcore”, this anti-fashion fashion trend is all about wearing comfortable, unpretentious, unisex clothing. Perhaps it is in backlash to the super cultivated street style looks that have gone from casual to something you know the wearer has given too much time and thought to, but the normcore style is all about effortlessness. That’s not to say you’ll be looking like a shabby bag lady. Get out your comfy chinos or khakis and pair them with a fitting sweater. Swap the Loboutins for platform sneakers (you know you want to) and don a baseball cap to go about your day as inconspicuously as possible. And of course, don’t leave the house without your big, multi-purpose tote.

As for makeup, bare faced is your best face. Worry not about smudged mascara and enjoy your weekend!
