Beauty Review: Laneige 6-in-1 BB Cushion

updated the 13 June 2014 à 22:25

Celebrity TV host and busy fashionista Yvette King gives her verdict on Laneige’s latest BB cushion. You’d better take her word for it!

BB Cushion

Every woman I know seeks a blemish-free, smooth, glowing and flawless looking skin. But also, most women I know have busy schedules and hectic lifestyles. Not everyone has time to prime, moisturize and tint. Step in Laneige 6-in-1 BB Cushion.

I’ve been wearing BB cream daily for about 2 years now for it’s even coverage, easy application, UV protection and light-weight feel. I started using tinted moisturizers as an alternative to foundation, but found the creamy consistency, longer lasting wear time and higher SPF found in BB Cream suited me better. It’s certainly my choice when I’m off duty as I wear extremely thick foundation, powder and concealer when I’m on camera. To put it another way, I want to feel like my skin can breathe but still want the appearance of even-looking skin.

BB Cream, short for Blemish Balm Cream, was originally produced in Germany but was popularized in Asia, largely in Korea. And they have been using it for many years. So I think it would be safe to assume the Koreans are experts in the BB Cream-land.

I’ve tried a range of different products – from expensive to just chemist BB Creams so I was very interested to test Korean cosmetic brand Laneige.

The Laneige 6-in-1 BB Cushion is part of the brand’s latest range White Plus Renew and is advertised to having six benefits which are ‘brightening, UV protection, moisturizing, sweat-proof, soothing and acting as makeup tint’. Being Eurasian, I already have very fair skin so for me I actually tend to avoid whitening products, however I was pleased to find that this product is very gentle and subtle in that regard. It also contains SPF 50+ which is perfect for those of us living in a South East Asian climate.

When I applied the product, I found that I instantly had dewy-looking skin without feeling like it was clogging my pores or leaving a greasy after-effect – even though it was absorbed quite quickly. The ease of blending also makes this BB Cushion appealing, but for me, the unique sponge and compact design is the main draw card. You simply push down on the cream using the puff and the right amount is distributed onto the sponge. It saves using your fingers to apply onto your face, which can sometimes deposit more bacteria onto your skin creating pimples. Do note you do have to often clean the puff and this is not the most convenient thing to do.

Laneige 6-in-1 BB Cushion (approx. USD47) will be available from March 2014 at all Laneige stores and counters.
