Diane Keaton is the poster child of 70s androgynous fashion with her ties, hats, and pantsuits in Annie Hall. The actress used much of her own wardrobe while playing the part which won her an Oscar for Best Actress and turned her into a major style icon. In the film, Keaton is constantly seen in loose-fitting trousers, button-down shirts with ties, blazers, bowler hats, and Oxfords.

Inspiring most of the fashion from the late 80s and early 90s is misfit fashion icon Winona Ryder and her clique of popular girls who dress in colourful menswear-inspired jackets, short skirts with bright-coloured tights, huge bows or scrunchies, and lots of accessories. Ryder’s character, Veronica, is a bit darker than the other Heathers and her clothes have more neutrals and blacks than the other girls.

Coco Chanel is famed for her impeccable style and this is seen throughout the biopic of her life. She is constantly in well-tailored pant suits, bowler hats, pearls and tuxedos. Coco wears the masculine look well as she still manages to look wistfully feminine.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s will forever be known as the movie that popularized the Little Black Dress so favoured by women at cocktail parties and formal events today. Aside from that, Audrey makes pearls, tortoiseshell sunglasses, satin gloves and diamente hair ornaments look chic.

Halter tops, bell bottoms, fringe vests, flowy tops, belts, and fur coats were the staple of Penny Lane's groupie wardrobe which reflected the rock and roll vibe of the 70s.
