Speech Errors: Common food names you’re pronouncing wrong

You may eat like a food connoisseur but you should have no qualms about sounding like one as well. It’s time to banish your mispronunciations.

“Hi, can I have a box of macaroons, please?”

If you’ve said that in Laduree or any French pastry shop, you’d most likely have the staff behind the counter quietly sniggering. There are many commonly mispronounced words in the foodie language and it’s such a sin to not be able to pronounce your favourite foods correctly.

Honestly, it’s also our personal pet peeve whenever people are so resolute in their mispronunciations. Even when they mispronounce, ‘pro-NUN-ciation’. But we digress.

So while you may eat like a food connoisseur, you should have no qualms about sounding like one as well, as long as you don’t commit any one of these pronunciation faux pas that is.
