The Star Awards recognises the best in Singaporean TV. We got our hands on the list of nominees and we tell you who we think is going to bag the coveted trophy.

Awards season is in full swing in the USA and the UK but our very own little red dot will be hosting a local version of the Golden Globes right here in April.

The Star Awards recognises the best in local television both on-screen and off, with the slew of new talented starlets and veteran actors and actresses having a booming year. This is thanks to defining roles and newcomers holding their own right alongside in popular Channel 8 dramas such as The Journey: Tumultuous Times and C.L.I.F 3 - it's going to be a close race.

Since we've gotten our hands on the list of nominees, we're going to look through our mystical crystal glass ball and tell you who we think is going to take home the Star Awards 2015 glass statuette.

Best Actor

Veteran actors are up for the Best Actor role this year. The battle between Christopher Lee, Chen Hanwei, Shaun Chen, Qi Yuwu and Thomas Ong will be intense as there is a strong fanbase for each actor.

But we think the handsome Shaun Chen might take home the prize for his gangster-with-a-heart-of-gold role in The Journey: Tumultuous Times.

Best Actress

The contenders up for this award include seasoned celebrities such as Rui En, Joanne Peh, Felicia Chin, Rebecca Lim and Yvonne Lim.

We have a strong feeling that Rui En - who played a psychiatrist with extra intuitive powers in Against The Tide, might win this year as she is starring in the next big sequel in The Journey franchise. She could definitely use the extra publicity.

Best Supporting Actor

Competing for the best supporting actor prize this year are surprisingly young actors, Zhang Zhen Huan and Aloysius Pang. The other three are experienced actors Chen Hanwei, Zhu Houren and Chen Shucheng.

For his villainous role in The Journey: Tumultuous Times, Chen Hanwei (wearing a white wig in the bottom image) was virtually unrecognisable. He has said in a previous interview that this role was "the most venomous character I've ever played".

Our money is on Hanwei to win.

Best Supporting Actress

More actresses from the monster production The Journey: Tumultuous Times are nominated in this category, including new comer Carrie Wong and Joanne Peh, to name a few. Other actresses within the category include Xiang Yun, Julie Tan and Paige Chua.

Although she is more likely to win Best Newcomer, we think Carrie Wong has the ethos to take home this award for her role. Her feisty 'chilli padi' role in The Journey: Tumultuous Times wormed its way into the hearts of many.

Best Newcomer

To reward bright and young talent, this category sees fresh young unjaded faces with nominees such as Aloysius Pang, Carrie Wong, Hong Ling, Nick Teo and Seraph Sun.

It's a tie between Aloysius Pang and Carrie Wong for us since both of them performed well in their roles in World at Your Feet and The Journey:Tumultuous Times.

But, Aloysius has been in the business since he was a child and recently released his very own single, Black Tears, which has set many hearts aflutter. So he might just have a slight edge over Carrie.
