We compare the two versions of the beauty gadget every woman wants to own!

As quickly as iPhones became the IT phone to hold, the Clarisonics are attaining a similar status amongst a very savvy group of beauty aficionados. Just about anyone who yearns for a clear complexion would either own some version of the Clarisonic (they have 5 now) or are contemplating on getting one.

We get it. It’s hard not to be a fan of the Clarisonic cleansing range, especially when there’s the promise to remove 6 times more dirt, reduce the appearance of pores and even aid in clearing up acne. Though it’s a rather tall order, the Clarisonics have seemingly delivered otherwise there wouldn’t be legions of fans around. Us included!

Our personal favourite is undeniably the Mia 2 and quite honestly we thought this was it – nothing else could replace our beauty tool but then Clarisonichad to release the Aria.

Mia 2 or Aria?

We love the Mia 2 for its compact design and range of 12 striking colours, making it a colourful travel companion to have. The Aria is slightly larger, does not come with a protective travel case but instead has a drying stand and only has 4 shades to choose from – white, black, red and pink.

However, in our eyes, the only pressing difference is the 2 speeds (delicate, universal) on the Mia 2 as opposed to the 3 speeds (delicate, universal and powerful) on the Aria.

And if you’re a stickler for additional features than you’d be pleased to hear that the Aria comes with 2 pulsing timer functions for 1 or 2 minute cleansing cycles. The Mia 2 only offers 1 minute cleansing cycles but you could easily repeat the cycle with another press of the timer.

Other than that, both offer sensitive brush heads and come with a universal voltage charger as well.

Remember though, the Clarisonic brushes are not exfoliating tools. Although the brush does offer a tinge of exfoliation (as compared to cleansing with your fingers), it is not the primary function. All that the Clarisonics promise to do is clean your faces extremely well and when the brushes rotate at 300 movements per second, we expect them to do a great job!

The Clarisonic Mia 2 (approx. 170USD) and Aria (approx. 214USD, from 1 April 2014) are available at Sephora Singapore and online.
