And yes, you can very easily make your very own rosewater toner.

Rosewater is distinctly fragrant and has been used for centuries to flavour cakes, create relaxing fragrances, and even tone the skin. But did you know there are plenty of other ways one can use rosewater – including soothing a nasty sunburn, treating acne, and clearing a blotchy complexion?

You can head up to the gallery to check out 5 ways you can use this aromatic potion to help alleviate your skin woes and leave your skin smelling fresh and floral. And if you’re in the mood to create your very own rosewater, here’s how:

All you need are these 2 ingredients:

  • Distilled water
  • Fresh rose petals from 2 to 3 pesticide-free roses

How to create your own rosewater:

  1. Rinse your freshly plucked rose petals to remove unwanted dirt. Place the petals in a saucepan with just enough distilled water to cover them. Try not to use too much water as this will create a more diluted rosewater.
  2. Cover the saucepan and simmer on a very low heat until the rose petals lose their colour. Strain the mixture and leave it to cool, then pour it into a spray bottle. You can mix the solution with a few drops of witch hazel and use the mixture as a purifying skin toner.
  3. Keep the solution in the fridge so that it stays fresh.
