There’s no questioning why the Singaporen brand, Marilyn Tan Jewellery is forging new grounds locally and internationally. Inarguably, we’re smitten by it as well.

While most people call it quits once they reach a certain age after working day in and day out, the opposite rings true for Singapore designer, Marilyn Tan, as she marches on with greater fortitude. After all, age should be the last concern when it comes to pursuing passion.

And for Marilyn Tan, her passion lies in jewellery. While she was trained as a family lawyer, Marilyn Tan branched out to focus on accessories more than 20 years ago. All of her pieces are exquisitely handcrafted using polished and uncut or un-faceted stones, gems and she also typically works in .925 silver or 18k yellow and white gold.

Brilliantly executed with a careful blend of sophistication and a wicked dose of edginess, the pieces at Marilyn Tan Jewellery sure do serve a mean punch, becoming conversation starters in their own right. Her discerning eye for design has catapulted her collections to show for four times at the Parisian trade show, Tranoi. And the real string to her bow came in 2013 when her pieces got picked up to be sold at Paul Smith stores in London and Nottingham.

While, the designer already has a slew of accolades to her name, it appears that the stream will not stop flowing either. Now, pieces from her notable Bronze Light Collection will be available in the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Chicago. The MCA store is one of the world’s largest contemporary art venues and boasts a collection which includes the likes of Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Kara Walker, and Alexander Calder. Specialising in a distinct range of merchandise that depicts current and emerging trends in contemporary art, design, fashion, music, and culture, Marilyn Tan Jewellery has no doubt found a fitting home there.

So seeing that the Marilyn Tan Jewellery range transcends seasons and most definitely speak for themselves, our next point of attack will only come in the form of owning one of those alluring and charming baubles, solely for ourselves.
