Chanel Cruise 2014: Behind the scenes video

updated the 20 June 2014 à 23:15

After the big show last May which became the talk of town in Singapore -and the rest of Asia – Here’s a sneak peek of what happened behind the scenes, in preparation to Singapore’s big ‘Chanel’ moment

For tropical countries in Asia, the one season that is most suited for our closets is the Cruise collection season. In Cruise collections, we suddenly see an influx of swimwear, light dresses, and prints and patterns specifically tailored for the warmer seasons. Which is why, when Karl Lagerfeld chose Singapore as Chanel’s Cruise 2014 location, it could not have been more fitting.

In May of this year, in the historic army barracks of Dempsey Hill, Chanel displayed its Cruise collection for a bevy of international fashion stars, media, and Singapore’s very own fashion crowd. With an iconic backdrop for the show, and evident Asian influences in the collection itself, Chanel depicted a strong Asian sensibility this season.

The newly-released behind-the-scenes footage is yet another peek into the beautiful show and its magnificent clothing. Chanel’s quintessential tweed blazer and skirt combination was a prominent aspect of the show, intertwined with oversized silhouettes, abundant feathers and opulent jewelry.

The sport of cricket was cited as a major source of inspiration, as shown in athletic pant-suits and all-white ensembles. The show was, at times, a reflection of Singapore – modern, transformed but with a distinct cultural connection. For more of the collection, watch the all-new footage of the show, above.
