For a truly memorable mother-daughter experience, here are 5 places to have the ultimate girl bonding time this mother’s day.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and you want to treat mother dearest to a short but amazing getaway she’ll never forget. We pick 5 places in and around Asia that make for a truly affordable, fun and unique mother-daughter retreat, even if only for a few days.

1)    Cebu, Philippines (For the Mum who wants to Relax):

Less crowded than Boracay and certainly as picturesque, Cebu is a wonderful getaway option for mum and you, free from noise and the hustle and bustle of city life. Although home to the nation’s busiest port in Philippines, Cebu has some great boutique beach resorts, tucked away amidst lush green countryside and surrounded by waterfalls and hiking trails. Get a nice massage, go for a spa or simply enjoy a refreshing cocktail on the beach, or by the mountains that Cebu is famous for, whilst taking in the beauty around you.

2)    Pokhara, Nepal (For The Outdoorsy Mum):

If your mum is slightly more sporty and outdoorsy, Pokhara is a great travel option for her. Known as ‘The Jewel in The Himalaya‘, there is an endless list of things for the adventurous tourist to do in Pokhara. This beautiful mountainous region of Nepal has some great trekking, hiking, mountaineering, para-gliding and biking options. Set against the backdrop of snowy peaks, elegant lakes and astounding natural beauty, you’ll find yourself constantly on the move in Pokhara, exploring caves, waterfalls, lakes and hillsides.

3)    Yogyakarta, Indonesia (For The History-Loving Mum):

One of the few places in the world that is still so historically and spiritually influenced, Yogyakarta is home to stunning architecture loaded with ancient Hindu influences. This capital of Central Java will let your history-buff mum take in an endless amount of ancient cultural ruins, shadow puppetry and spend some truly invaluable time with you. Roam around the city, take plenty of photos and enjoy this peaceful yet educational mother-daughter getaway.

4)    Goa, India (For The Yogi Mum):

Although popularly referred to as the ‘Ibiza of India’, Goa isn’t all about partying on the beach. The Southern part of Goa, especially, offers many Yoga retreats at ashrams, minus the crowds of North Goa. For a spiritual cleanse and tranquillity, practising the ancient art of Yoga to the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore next to your mum, this is the ideal Mother’s Day vacation for the yogi in her.

5)    Ko Samui, Thailand (For The Young-at-Heart Mum):

Most of us have probably reached a stage where it’s no longer ‘lame’ to party with your mum. You’re already travelling with your favourite woman, so why not turn it a notch and go somewhere the both of you can party it up? If you thought boring-ol’-mum couldn’t enjoy a drink or two and some dancing, give her the opportunity to release and unwind in one of the most happening party cities in Thailand. On rest days from exploring the nightlife of Chaweng and Lamai, take the opportunity to bond with mum on some of Koh Samui’s spectacular beaches or even go snorkelling in the clear blue waters together.
