Check out Peranakan fashion in a different light
You enjoy Peranakan food, now get yourself acquainted with the fashion of the culture at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where the creative Fashion Design students have put up a glow-in-the-dark display of Peranakan ethnic prints, patterns, motifs and fabrics on each outfit illuminated by UV light.
When: 28-29 August, 7.30am-2am

Eat & shop at the Festival Village
Of course, what’s any event in Singapore without a generous serving of food on the side, and the Singapore Night Festival ticks all the right boxes with its quirky Festival Village. This year’s mouthwatering treats include Pandan Churros with Gula Melaka Sauce, handmade crispy roast pork, and Soi 55, serving Thai milk tea, to name a few. Once you’re satiated, take a walk through the stalls where you can shop for artisanal jewellery and ethnic accessories.

Celebrate Singapore with the Anooki
Watch as the world’s smallest Inuits, Anook and Nooki, collectively known as the Anooki run riot across the façade of the National Museum. Created by graphic designers David Passegand and Moetu Batlle, these animated cuties have taken the animation world by storm with their rambunctious escapades around the world and this is your chance to sign and dance along with the adventurous duo, whose Singaporean performance was specially created for SG50.
When: 21-29 August, 7.30pm – 11pm (Sun-Thu), 7.30pm – 2am (Fri-Sat)

Be mesmerized by floating angels
Theatre Tol, the Belgian theatre company that entertained us back in 2011 at the same festival is back for another entertaining round with their Garden of Angels act. This year’s act takes inspiration from artist Marc Chagall’s paintings, which often depict angels floating in the sky, so you guessed it, we’re in for a visual treat of floating angels and fairytale like performances which will start from Armenian Street towards National Museum.
When: 28-29 August, 9-11pm
Where: Front Lawn, National Museum of Singapore, 93 Stamford Road (Performance) & Armenian Street (Parade)

From a food fair to floating angels here's what you can look forward to at the eighth installation of the Singapore Night Festival.

We’ve had more than our fair share of food fairs, movie festivals and SG50 celebrations and right now, we’re ready for an event of a different kind, and just in time, the Singapore Night Festival has swooped in and provided us just the kind of distraction we needed.

The eighth edition of the nocturnal festival returns to the Bras Basah Bugis Precinct to celebrate our vibrant arts and culture scene with a stellar line-up of spectacular performances, light installations, aerial stunts and a multitude of activities for everyone to enjoy.

While we’ve previously highlighted 5 shows not to miss out on, we’ve found 4 even more compelling reasons you should head to the extravagant night show ASAP! You may have missed out on the first weekend of the glitzy night fair, but there’s no reason to miss the second half, now that you know what to look out for.
