If you have a soft spot for furry friends then it may be time to switch up your beauty regime to one that is animal-friendly. Here are our picks.

Animal testing has long been the default mode for experimenting the efficacy of skincare and cosmetics. However, animal lovers around the world are standing up to animal testing and multiple brands have taken heed.

The result of offering ethically-produced products need not be shelling out higher amounts for your daily beauty needs. Quite the contrary. If you look close enough, high-street brands are going cruelty-free at decent price points, without shaving off performance or colour.

It may be difficult to determine which brands is in fact cruelty-free. Either look out for the internationally recognised Leaping Bunny logo or make an educated guess. Brands who state, “This product is not tested on animals” may carry the implication that while the final product was not tested on animals, ingredients possibly were.

In other cases, brands may also simply state, “We do not test on animals.” That may then create convenient loopholes for the brands to outsource their testing to other companies and yet appear ethical.

Research is your best bet and to help you in that process, here are 10 brands that proudly claim to not inflict harm on defenceless animals or have been certified cruelty-free.

Note: some of these products are not 100% Vegan. Which means to say that they may contain animal by-products.
