Nail trends to flaunt for the Holidays

Here are 5 cool ways to dress up your nails for the festive season!

As we start to put together our holiday outfits, let’s not forget our nails – we absolutely can’t devoid them of the joy of being dressed up!

Sprucing your nails up need not equate to unimaginable expensive visits to the nail salons to get intricate nail art done. Instead, achieve some stunning nails with the current nail trends and you’ll be able to flaunt your fingers with pride as you hop from party to party.

Glitter polish

Christmas is hardly complete without a smidge or two of glitter. Whether on your clothes, make up or nails, glitter takes priority this festive season.

Still, if you’re not a fan of glitter, then embrace it in a small but elegant manner in the way of glitter polish. Dazzle your guests as you clink champagne glasses in merriment!

Our pick: Covet London Ski Bunny at Luxola, approx. USD30.

 Nail wraps

If you’re looking at fancy-ing up your nails without an expensive trip to the manicurist, then welcome the recent super star of manicures – nail wraps.

These wraps work in the remove-stick-file process and will have you out the door in minutes, ready to show the world your exquisite nails. Gummi Nails, a nail wrap brand in Singapore, has some rather unique designs in store and the special Holiday edition will blissfully shower winter snow on your nails.

Our pick: Gummi Nails, Winter Wonderland at Gummi Nails, approx. USD13.

Caviar nails

Caviar nails, presumably created by Ciate, was the socialite of manicures and nail art. So much so that it garnered the same status as the finest dish itself.

The nature of Caviar nails – small 3D spheres – makes them perfect for short-term wear, i.e. a Holiday party because they may start falling off by the end of the night. Nonetheless, get them in multicolour and it’s akin to having confetti strewn across your nails!

Our pick: Ciate Caviar Manicure Luxe, at Sephora, approx. USD25.

 Metallic nails

Other than glitter, the holiday season bodes shimmer. Shimmer is the toned down sister of glitter and that makes metallic nails versatile enough to be worn casually or dressed up.

Avoid the traditional silver or gold and instead take on duo tone finishes or rose gold shades to shake things up a little.

Our pick: Deborah Lippmann Glamourous Life, at Luxola, approx. USD24.

 Press-on nails

Finally, the easiest manicure of the lot this season is press-on nails. We’re not talking about those tacky, eye-numbingly long and plastic nails that will scare just about any sane person. Today, press-on nails has evolved to smaller and less bulky ones that only serve to appear as second skin for the nails.

If you thought nail wraps are easy, press on nails are beyond effortless. All you do is remove the tape, stick it on and watch them stun the crowd.

Our pick: IMpress nail set, at Guardian stores, approx. USD13.
