We take a look at some of the summer nail trends you should try for your next weekend function. Bold and bright is the way to go!

If the heat has you forgoing your makeup and ignoring your sartorial choices, let nail art be your saving grace. They won’t melt off, and will keep looking polished (pun intended), even on the hottest of days.

Pinterest is abuzz with bright, pastel candy-coloured nail looks for every girl. From glitter to playful fruit prints, geometric shapes and the classic French tips, we take a look at the best trends you can take your pick to suit your style.

Our favourite has to be the painted-on fruits that are mischievous yet grown-up, all at the same time. A matte coating on a watermelon-inspired design has us dreaming of whipping out our long-forgotten nail care tools this weekend! The trick is to keep the colours as subtle as possible, and reserve the complicated nail decor for just one or two nails per hand. The rest of the nails can be polished with complimentary colours to keep the look cohesive.

French manicures sound like a thing of the past now that various nail trends and techniques are surfacing. However, it is still a classic and is a go-to for the corporates, female political power houses and those in the service industry. Make it your own (and avoid looking too drab) by using alternative colours to the usual nude and white with colourful bright hues. We’re big fans of the gold and pink pairing seen in one of the shots above.

Achieving precise, geometric shapes for nail art may seem like a tedious task but the effort is well worth the trouble! Placing bold, punchy colours alongside glitter polishes is a chic way of injecting life into your fingertips. They’re sure to catch someone’s eye while you reach for your cocktails on the weekends, and can maybe even incite interest as a conversation-starter.

It’s time to save some of these pics for your personal inspo – they’ll come in handy when you tell your manicurist how you’d like your nails to look this week!
