With the humidity in Singapore, using oil-based products on your skin and hair may seem like a mistake. However, here’s a few oils that you should be adding to your routine.

With this constant humidity in Singapore, using oil-based products for your skin or hair may seem like a colossal mistake. However, that belief is misguided. Some essential oils actually have healing properties that can result in shiny hair and clear skin.

“But I already have oily skin/ hair!” you cry. Sometimes the very thing you need to combat those issues is the thing you have always thought to avoid.

Here are a few essential oils that you never knew you needed in your life.

Lotus Oil

Lotus oil is known for its astringent properties and it has been used in Asia for centuries as a remedy for skin ailments. It has an intoxicating floral scent and studies have shown that it improves elasticity of the skin and prevents wrinkles.

Tea Tree Oil

Have you got acne problems? If you do, you’ve just found your best friend. Tea Tree oil products are abundant in the market to combat acne or problematic skin. It is a topical antiseptic which helps with pimples and infection.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba (pronounced as ho-ho-ba) oil mimics the body’s natural oils which makes this ideal for hydration. If you have oily skin, applying this can help ‘fool’ your skin into thinking it already has produced enough, thus reducing oiliness.

Argan Oil

Also known as Oil of Morocco, this is commonly found in hair products. This oil is rich in nutrients, fatty acids and vitamin E. It is extremely hydrating and great for those with very dry skin and hair.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is full of antioxidants, fatty acids and vitamins that can help soothe itchy and dry skin. It has also shown effectiveness in reducing the symptoms of eczema.
