Finding a scent that appeals to you tends to be a tricky task but after subjecting our noses to countless fragrances, it’s safe to say, we’ve found our match.

As much as our wardrobes may be comprehensive and compulsively organised into colours, moods or occasions, our fragrance carousel has similarly been graced with an extensive range. However, only one perfume bottle truly sticks out – one that we instinctively reach out to day in, day out.

Picking a fragrance though comes with its own set of hurdles because what may be your best friend’s preference may not be yours. Smell is after all a truly personal and sensorial experience. Nonetheless, the team at Marie France Asia is lucky for we’ve found a scent that we adore and will endlessly envelope ourselves in it.

Chloe Signature Eau de Parfum, approx. USD105

“I won’t be exaggerating if I say that at least once a week I get asked about what perfume I’m wearing. Although I’d like to credit it to my natural smell, it is actually Chloe Signature EDP – or perhaps the combination of both.

While in the past I’ve experimented a lot (Givenchy Very Irresistible and Chanel No 5 were previous favourites) this floral and feminine scent is now the only one I wear – winter or summer, day or night. It is noticeable yet not overpowering and somehow seems to work very well on me. I reckon I won’t be changing it anytime soon.”

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, approx. USD72

“While I like some of my scents to be flirty and floral, I tend to reach out to my musky, spicy and oriental ones just as much – especially one that delivers a mean punch. I remember when I first took a whiff of Calvin Klein Secret Obsession and was immediately drawn to it. Perhaps, some of the obsession came from how it was shaped as a genie bottle as well.

There was definitely some magic to it for I’ve worn this alluringly intense scent almost everywhere – interviews, dates, shopping – but not so much to the beach. For the beach, I’ll still go with my feminine and floral scents.”

Dior Addict Eau Fraiche Perfume, approx. USD69

“When I look for a perfume – I always go for scents that are flirty, floral and most of all feminine. The Dior Addict Eau Fraiche perfume ticks all the right boxes, from its lust-worthy scent to the super cute packaging. Perfect for day or night, this fragrance smells very romantic. Wear it to the office or on your next blind date and you’ll be sure to turn heads (in a good way of course). Give this perfume a go and you’ll be whisked away to a luxury beach destination in Saint Tropez!”

Maison Martin Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning Perfume, approx. USD125

“Trust Margiela when he says he has bottled the essence of a Lazy Sunday Morning. Through an ingenious concoction of floral, fruity and musky notes, this scent exudes femininity and comfort that will sooth your mind in times of stress, yet give you just the right amount of confidence to face the day. Besides its heavenly notes, I wouldn’t deny the fact that the monochromatic and minimalistic design, inspired by classic apothecary jars, that comes with a tag to resemble those from the “REPLICA’ couture collection played a huge part in me falling in love with it. The use of ropes because ribbons are simply too mainstream? Gotta love Margiela’s whimsicality. ‘Lazy’ has honestly never looked, and smelled so good.”

Marc Jacobs Daisy, approx. USD76

“Unquestionably my favourite scent – it is floral, fresh, fruity and delicate. I hate overpowering heady scents and this particular fragrance is perfect for when I’m out in the day or night. Absolutely love it!“

Coco Chanel Eau de Parfum, approx. USD120

“I am not really addicted to any perfumes because I like to change them and the scent I pick typically depends on my mood. But if I had to name names, I would say that I love the Cacharel limited summer edition because of its fruity scent and Coco Chanel because it’s musky and spicy and I feel incredibly sexy when I wear it.”

Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, approx. USD95

“As I’m currently pregnant, it’s really hard to find a perfume that is not too strong and doesn’t cause me to feel nauseous. Hence, the one I can still spritz on during my pregnancy would be the Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche as the essence is not too overpowering. The soft, floral smell is great and stays on all day.”

Guerlian Insolence, approx. USD107

“Without hesitation, my absolute favourite perfume is Insolence by Guerlain. I have used the perfume since college and sometimes, try as I might, I cannot quite do without it. I like the way the perfume’s scent progresses throughout the day.

It begins with a fresh touch of berries and intensifies to a powdery concoction of iris and violet. Moreover, I like the fact that my friends associate the scent to me, thanks to the fact that I have worn this perfume for a long time.”
