Age related issues are certainly not fun to talk about, and yes, your skin will give out the most clues to how well you are aging. We all want to age gracefully, and for that, we need to figure out who are our ‘enemies’ and work against them.

As we age, the skin produces less collagen that makes our skin supple and smooth. The sebaceous glands present get bigger while the number of sweat glands decreases — producing less sebum and making our skin dry. Thin and dry skin has lost its elasticity and that’s when we face our most hated consequence, the wrinkles.

Here are 5 areas of skin that are most prone to aging:

THE NECK: One of the least expected ares, we tend to focus a lot on our faces but forget the neck. When you apply your sunblock, do remember to include your neck areas too. Find out more about neck creams that work well here.

THE BACK OF OUR HANDS: That’s the reason why we have hand creams. Look out for products that protects the top of your hand from the harmful rays of sun. Don’t just choose hand creams that ‘nourish’ or ‘moisturise’. These delicate areas need the SPF.

SKIN ON TOP OF OUR FEET: It is one area that we don’t usually care about right? You can slip into your favourite slippers while on a summer beach vacation, but you must not forget to apply slabs of sunscreen on top of your feet too.

THE FACE: Under the eyes, the cheeks, the forehead, the nose—are just some crucial areas you need to focus on while applying sunblock. Start putting facial waters, creams, facial masks while you are young, before it’s too late. Apply egg white as a skin tightening agent regularly. Also, don on a pair of working-against-the-sun shades, or wear a hat.

THE TOP OF OUR FOREARMS: Wear long sleeves to cover your forearms and avoid head-on sun-tanning as much as possible.

You can avoid going under the knife during surgeries or doing fillers if you take your preventive measures of aging seriously. Lastly, as cliché as it sounds, drink at least 8 glasses of water to keep your skin hydrated.
